Akonix RogueAware
Identify your public Instant Messaging and P2P File Sharing security
exposure
Akonix Rogue Aware is a free monitoring tool that detects and reports
on IM and P2P File Sharing use within corporate networks. Rogue
Aware quickly exposes hidden instant messaging and P2P traffic and
allows IT administrators to view usage statistics. Rogue Aware is
critical risk management tool in assessing network vulnerabilities
during security audits.
Unmanaged public Instant Messaging and P2P File Sharing expose
corporate networks to serious business threats including loss of
confidential information, virus infections, and security loopholes
that allow hacker attacks.
Because unmanaged public instant messaging and P2P file sharing
traffic exposes enterprise networks to a myriad of threats, it is
imperative that IT managers know when this type of traffic is present.
Rogue Aware is a network “sniffer” that collects information
about the use of traffic that is generated by the major public IM
networks including FastTrack and Gnutella, and major P2P File Sharing
applications such as KaZaA, Morpheus, Gnutella, etc.
Supported IM networks include AOL, MSN, and YAHOO. Supported P2P
clients include KaZaA, KaZaA Lite, Grokster, Bearshare, Limewire,
Morpheus, Shareaza, Phex, Swapper, and Xolox.
Rogue Aware generates a detailed report, illuminating the different
types of clients are being used, how many messages are being sent,
how many files are being transferred, and other valuable statistics.
Once these protocols are exposed, Akonix L7 Enterprise can be used
to granularly manage their use, reduce security threats, generate
detailed reports and comply with government and industry regulations.
