Application Deployment

Automated application deployment is normally only possible with expensive third party applications. This means that it is generally only practiced by large enterprise customers. However, it is possible using the BII Systems Management Framework. Benefits include:

Reduced Cost

Because most small companies do not have automated application delivery systems, application deployment tends to happen in the form of a person visiting each machine that requires the software with a CD/DVD etc and installing it manually. This is a time consuming and expensive activity that can be significantly reduced by implementing an automated delivery solution.

Software Asset Management

As software is delivered by the deployment system, logs and databases are updated, providing a real-time snapshot of what software is installed on which systems. This is vital for software license management. Having too few licenses for software is illegal; having too many means you are paying more for your business systems than you should be.

Central Management

A software delivery mechansim moves the control of the applications from the endpoint machines to a central system. This increases manageability, reduces support effort and therefore reduces the total cost of ownership of the business systems.
