![]() WorkshopsWorkshops are the most effective way of starting to tackle a business problem. BII can offer facilitation, direction and also technical input to these sessions. Key attributes of workshop sessions are listed below. Brainstorming In its most simple form, a workshop may involve a brainstorming session to bring all potential ideas and high-level designs to the table, for further discussion and feasibility review. Architecture Design Once the task and the high-level solution have been decided upon, the architecture of the implementation must be determined. By work shopping the architecture, the design is significantly de-risked by the presence of experienced professionals and subject matter experts. Focused A workshop has just one topic. All aspects of that topic are explored by a minimal number of key people, including architects, stakeholders and subject-matter-experts. Intensive By holding a meeting of key people behind closed doors, resources are focused with minimal distractions. Projects are often hampered by a lack of support from key stakeholders. By having all the decision makers involved at the same time, progress and results can almost be guaranteed in all cases. Creative Workshops are very interactive sessions. Ideas get “bounced around” between creative minds and instantly qualified, ratified or dismissed by the experts present. Most hurdles can be overcome by having the right resources focused on the issue in the right circumstances. Objectives All workshops have a defined set of objectives to keep them focused, and to keep the benefit of the workshop measurable. They have a set of inputs (e.g. the problem, constraints, experts, etc), outputs (e.g. a solution, dependencies, etc) and actions. The actions are a tangible list of tasks that must happen to implement the output of the workshop. |
